1. How do I obtain a police report?

You can come into the Police Department during normal business hours (8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays) and complete a records request form at the front counter. (You must have valid identification to obtain a report.) You can also access a request form on the Web. Navigate under "Town Government," and find "police." Then click "police records" on the left. Then click "obtaining a report," and then "report request form."

2. Are pet licenses required in Castle Rock?

Yes. Any person owning, keeping or having custody of any dog or cat older than 6 months must obtain a license.

To obtain a license, call Castle Rock Animal Control, 303-663-6100, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday.

3. Can I do anything about a dog that barks all the time?

Yes. To report a problem with a barking dog, call 303-663-6100, or click the "report a concern" on the homepage of this website. It is unlawful to keep a dog that habitually barks or creates a nuisance.

4. I want to be a police officer. How do I apply?

Applications are accepted only during specified posting times annually (usually in the fall) and are posted on this Web site. Applicants must possess Colorado State POST certification by date of hire in addition to a high school diploma or GED. They also must be able to work any shift and be physically able to meet the demands of the job. College coursework or a degree is preferred. Applicants also must possess a valid Colorado driver's license with a good driving record and have no felony convictions.

5. What is curfew in the Town of Castle Rock?

On April 10, 2012, the Town of Castle Rock announced changes to its curfew law. The following applies to those under the age of 18:

Curfew:

• Sunday-Saturday: midnight - 5 a.m.

Exceptions:


• Have a signed note from parents or legal guardian


• Be in transit from legal employment

6. How do I report a crime?

To report a crime that occurred within in Castle Rock, call 303-663-6100, and a police officer will respond to your location or contact you by telephone.

Many property crimes may be reported by filling out a counter report form at the Police Department. Residents may complete a counter report form for accidents and crimes where there are no suspects or where no pursuable evidence / information exists and they do not wish to talk with an officer.

7. How do I file an online Police report?

ePoliceReporting will allow residents and business owners to report nonviolent crimes such as gas theft, identity theft, vandalism, trespassing a vehicle or property, and lost property to police officers using the Web.
Crimes reported through the system should be non-emergencies, occur within Town limits, and have no known suspects. Incidents occurring along Interstate 25 or on a state highway are not eligible, as those are pursued by Colorado State Patrol. In addition, crimes occurring in the unincorporated Douglas County areas are also not eligible, as those are handled by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

All reports filed using the new system will be reviewed by a police officer and will receive the same investigation and statistical analysis as if the report had been filed by an officer. If further review is needed, an officer will contact the person who filed the report.

8. What is the noise ordinance in the Town of Castle Rock?

Sound from stereos, radios, televisions or other sources must not disturb anyone 100 feet away. All construction, lawnmowers, trash haulers, etc., are prohibited from operating between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. Weekend construction cannot begin until 8 a.m.

11. Can I have my fingerprints taken at the Castle Rock Police Department?

Yes, the Police Department is available for fingerprinting Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fees are $10 for the first two cards and $5 for each additional card. Individuals are requested to bring their own fingerprint cards, as the Police Department does not furnish the cards.
