1. Where do I pay my water utility bill?

You can pay your utility bill online by credit card or check via online bill pay. The Utilities Department accepts debit and credit cards, cash, checks or money orders. Those payments can be made at the Utilities Building, located at 175 Kellogg Court, via walk-in, drive through, or mail. Customers can also drop payments off at the drop box in the parking lot at Town Hall, located at 100 N. Wilcox St., or inside Town Hall at the Finance counter.

2. Chloramines: upgrading water treatment process, moving toward renewable water

This year, Castle Rock for the first time will be able to treat and deliver renewable surface waters with the opening of Plum Creek Water Purification Facility. This water contains different particles that create harmful byproducts when reacting with chlorine, which is what the Town currently uses. Because groundwater comes from up to 2,000 feet below ground, chlorine is a safe disinfectant. In addition, chloramines last longer in the distribution system and lack taste and odor. 3. Why does the Town have watering restrictions?

Castle Rock has been on watering restrictions since 1985. The intent of the program is to evenly distribute the water demand minimizing the summer peaks that are placed on the system. The every-third-day / specific hours watering program begins each May and continues through August.

4. How do I report a water leak?

Call the Town's Utilities Department, 720-733-6000. The Utilities Department will contact a line maintenance technician to determine if the leak source is within the homeowner’s system or is the responsibility of the Town. The after hours emergency number is the Police Department, 303-663-6100.

5. How can I avoid frozen pipes in extreme cold?

1) Turn your faucet to a trickle to keep water moving through pipes; 2) Maintain an indoor temperature of at least 55 degrees; 3) Open heat vents in basements or crawl spaces; 4) Do not open the metal lid to your meter pit -- this causes warm air to escape and will cause more problems; and 5) Keep cabinet doors open.
