More than 175 participate in sixth annual costume contest

Kids and adults – dressed up as ghouls, book and movie characters and even kitchen fixtures – hit the streets of Downtown Castle Rock Wednesday for the Town’s sixth annual Trick or Treat Street celebration.

More than 175 people entered the annual costume contest, organized by the Town of Castle Rock and the Downtown Alliance, for a chance to win one of many prizes donated by local businesses.

Winners of the costume contests were as follows:

Under 2 age group – 1: John Light, vampire; 2: Charli Kay Surry, witch; 3: Grayson Snyder, rocker devil

2-4 age group – 1: John Mukavetz, Mr. Fredricksen from the Disney movie “UP”; 2: Emerson Pook, pirate; 3: Grace Senecal, box of popcorn

5-7 age group – 1: Brandon Smith, Mad Hatter; 2: Konnor Ramirez, werewolf; 3: James Mullins, a box of Lucky Charms

8-10 age group – 1: Jordyn McBee, purple pirate girl; 2: Kristian Ramirez, headless man; 3: Ella Lang, king cobra

11 and up age group – 1: Molly Jones, a frozen head in a freezer; 2: Kirigan Mercer, lion queen; 3: Jaeleigh Dunning, zombie cheerleader

Group contest – 1: Anna, Gavin, Anthony and Molly Krenz, “Little Red Riding Hood” characters; 2: AJ, Kelli, Samantha and Ella O’Brien, Peter Pan and Tinker Bell fight Captain Hook; 3: The Blanchards, three blind mice and the farmer’s wife

Festival Park served as a stop on the Downtown Alliance’s Trick or Treat Street, which drew more than 750 people downtown Wednesday to trick or treat at more than 90 businesses. At Festival Park, children consumed candy, decorated pumpkins, bounced in an inflatable castle and enjoyed free airbrush tattoos, balloon animals and pony rides, all to a backdrop of live music by Castle Rock Music.
