Window stickers added to Town’s “No Knock” program

The Town of Castle Rock is helping residents take another step to deter unwanted solicitation. Now, residents who register for the Town’s No Knock List will also receive a sticker to post on their doors. (See attached).

Town Council in 2008 approved a solicitation ordinance, which set in motion the creation of that list. Commercial solicitors are prohibited under Town Code from knocking at addresses on the list or where the stickers and/or other No Solicitation signs are displayed.

Residents who are not on the list but would like to be can visit CRgov.com/noknock to register using an online form. Required information includes first and last name, address, subdivision name, ZIP code and email address. Unless an address changes, there is no need to re-register for the No Knock List.

In addition, Town ordinance requires commercial business representatives who would like to solicit door-to-door to obtain a license from the Town. Solicitors must present a copy of the license if asked by a resident. (To view a sample license or list of registered solicitors, visit CRgov.com/noknock). Prospective solicitors can get this information online at the same Web address.

If a solicitor knocks without a license, outside the allowed hours, or at a home with a sticker, residents can call the Town’s Police Dispatch Center, 303-663-6100. It is important to call when the solicitor is in the area, so officers can address the situation.

It is important to note that the Town’s ordinance does not prohibit solicitors from hanging fliers. Also, canvassers and noncommercial solicitors, such as school, scout, religious or political groups are not regulated in any way.

For more information or to request a sticker if you have not yet received one, contact Town Clerk Sally Misare, 303-660-1367 or smisare@CRgov.com, or Executive Assistant Lisa Anderson, 303-660-1374 or landerson@CRgov.com.
